History: Michael Roark is a police officer working for the San Francisco Police Department. He is the son of police sergeant Tim Roark and the younger brother of Colin Roark. The Roarks have been in the police department for years, since Tim used to tell Colin and Mike stories about their grandfather, Shawn Roark, who was a captain in the force.
Mike used to train with Li Sung, but then decided to stop his training in order to focus on his work as a policeman. One day, Colin, Mike and Tim once went to capture notorious criminal Joe Lynch. Although Mike suggested to bring backup, Tim's stubborness and pride got in the way and the three Roarks decided to go by themselves. Eventually, Mike's worries were proven right in a very unfortunate way. Once Tim kicked in the door, he went to follow Lynch through the window. However, the window had a tripwire and Tim stepped on it and activated an explosive.
Mike was wounded by Lynch, but he also managed to wound Lynch. Mike struggled hard and went into Li Sung's school. The old master helped Mike to overcome the pain and survive the injury. After that, Mike took his father's death hard, but always tried to keep in control, whereas Colin was extremely angered and vengeful. Li Sung had appointed Mike as his successor, but he was reluctant to take his place. However, when the master passed away, Mike found that he had no choice but to take Li Sung's place.
Some time later, the police had cornered Lynch. Mike went in to fight him and take him in. Colin wanted to kill Lynch, but Mike told him that if he wanted Lynch dead, he would have to shoot him first. Colin dropped his weapon and allowed Lynch to live.
Now, Mike works both as a private investigator and as a martial arts teacher.
Equipment: N/A
Powers: N/A
Skill: Mike has advanced police training. He's a good sharpshooter, hand-to-hand fighter and a very good leader in the battlefield. He also learned all his martial art skills from Li Sung, even Li Sung's ability to withstand pain and cold temperatures, as well as the ability to touch fire without hurting himself.
Trivia (Optional):
-Mike's calmer demeanor often clashed quite badly with the temperamental and stubborn personalities of his father Tim and older brother Colin.
Sample of how you'll play this character:
Colin Roark entered the building where Li Sung's martial arts school is located. He sees his brother training new students. He knocks on the door.
"Come in." said Mike.
Colin comes in.
"Hey, Mike." said Colin.
"Colin, good to see you. What brings you here?" asked Mike.
"Some guy wants us to investigate an illegal operation downtown." said Colin.
Mike then turns to his students.
"You can go back to your quarters and train there." said Mike.
The students bow respectully to Mike, who bows as well. Then, they head back to their quarters. Mike then looks at Colin.
"What's this operation the client talks about?" asked Mike.
"Drug smuggling. He says someone is giving narcotics to a lotta people." said Colin.
"Drugs... what an awful way to make business." said Mike. "I'll be ready in a minute."
