MADRID
DON'T MESS WITH MADRID
History: Ben Madrid is a law enforcement agent and a former Army soldier. Although a bit shady in his dealings, Madrid has a very strong sense for justice and won't tolerate any nonsense from anybody.
He was hired by Westco Oil Company to become their security agent. However, trouble at Westco started when they tried to make a deal with William Floyd, a very successful oil rig manager. Madrid was in Dallas at the time, so he didn't know about this. However, when Floyd told Westco that he wouldn't sell, some corrupt Westco agents sent by John Fielding, Westco's crooked CEO, bombed Floyd's rig. Floyd was killed in the explosion.
Floyd's death wasn't ignored, as his son, Ray Floyd, started torching Westco stations. Fielding told Madrid to take care of the young Floyd. However, Madrid didn't want to eliminate someone who hadn't done any wrong. His determination to give Floyd a chance was increased when he met Jack McGee. Both men earned each other's respect instantly. Just as McGee didn't like working for the National Register, Madrid despised working for someone as crooked as Fielding. Eventually, when he finally faced Ray Floyd, Madrid turned on Fielding.
Due to his help in taking down the crooked CEO of Westco, Madrid was allowed to continue his work as a law enforcement agent.
Equipment: Handgun
Powers: N/A
Skill: Madrid is a very good law enforcement agent. Being trained in the army has really helped him in his line of work. He is also quite efficient when it comes to handling himself in combat. He never loses his cool demeanor.
Trivia (Optional):
-After the Westco ordeal, General Fitzmaurice has been interested in making Madrid a SHIELD agent. Unfortunately, Madrid has refused all of SHIELD's offers, saying that even though he's honored to be considered, he prefers to work alone.
Sample of how you'll play this character:
Agent X was talking to a tall man with grey hair. The man has a tough, menacing demeanor. He looks like someone who has seen quite a lot in his life.
"General Fitzmaurice once again sent me to talk to you..." said Agent X. "We really need someone like you, Mr. Madrid... you could be a great help to us."
Madrid takes off his hat and holds it near his chest corteously.
"I really am honored to be considered for a big organization like SHIELD, young lady... but unfortunately, I would never fit in there. I always worked better alone." said Madrid gently but with his cool demeanor.
"So I guess this means you'll still go out your own way?" asked Agent X.
"I'm afraid so, missy." said Madrid. "Pleasure talking to you again."
He bowed his head respectfully and put his hat back on as he went on his way.
"If you change your mind, I... we'll... be waiting for your call." said Agent X.
"Very well, though it might be an eternity." said Madrid, looking back at Agent X with a smile.
He then kept walking forward. Agent X just looked at him go. Was she really asking him because he would be a good addition, or did she actually want him to be with her? Was that why she volunteered to ask him about joining? She now doesn't know why she tried to convince him. It would seem that she has feelings for this loner who just walks away into the sunset.
