Image/Appearance:
History: Dan Hibiki used to be an everyday man until Sagat came in and started extorting his father's humble business. Go Hibiki, Dan's father, refused to pay Sagat and fought him bravely, gouging Sagat's right eye. Angered, Sagat brutally killed Go, and now, Dan is sworn to protect others from suffering the same fate as his father by training hard and preparing for the next time he would meet and engage Sagat.
Dan can be best described as being his own worst enemy. He refuses to back down from any fight, usually out of confidence, though this easily turns to arrogance or sheer stupidity. Although weak, Dan seems to still be somewhat intelligent, possessing some knowledge of fighting styles.
Despite his miserable record of losses, Dan still believes himself to be the superior fighter; his ego is so bloated that he even sometimes tries to steal credit for other people's actions. Despite being arrogant and cocky, Dan is ultimately good-natured.
Dan has a rivalry with Ryu and Ken, mostly on the grounds of them being the more revered fighters and Ken's "ladies man" persona. He has also been shown to be quite unpopular with some other Street Fighters, usually because they tend to have little patience for his antics.
Weapons: N/A
Powers: Dan uses the Saikyo Style, an "ultimate" fighting style that he created by mixing several techniques, mainly his father's fighting style, unprofessional Ansatsuken that he learned during his short training with Gouken, and colorful taunts of his own. By using multiple provocations to show off, Dan can manipulate opponents to break their pace and lower their guard, giving him the opportunity to land "powerful" attacks. Dan appears to to be a jack-of-all-trades with knowledge in multiple fields, but the lack of a specialization (other than his taunts) and his overconfidence makes him weak compared to other fighters such as Ryu, Ken, and Sakura. Dan may have inherited some of his father's moves to use as his own as both of their various attacks are greatly similar to each.
Among Dan's fighting abilities, we have...
Gadoken - Executed in the same exact way as the Hadoken, the Gadoken is a projectile attack that Dan launches with one hand. The attack does roughly as much damage as any other projectile in spite of its range, and can act as a rather limited method of defense against them. The attack can also be used as a limited combo extender and as way to hit a unexpecting opponent.
Koryuken - Executed the same as the Shoryuken, the Koryuken is also visually similar to the original move - a jumping uppercut with the fist half-extended, and the knee corresponding to the punching hand raised. As with the Shoryuken, this move functions well as an anti-air.
Dankukyaku - The Dankukyaku has three strength variations. The weakest version is a leap and knee jab forward. The knee jab can strike both crouching, standing and aerial foes, which is when it is most damaging.
Shisso Buraiken - Unlike the Hissho Buraiken, the attack has a wide range and will miss if performed at any distance farther than that, or if the opponent has almost hit the ground.
Haoh Gadoken - Despite its enormous power, the distance of the attack is still very limited, just like the original Gadoken, thus preventing it from inflicting much damage at long range. In addition, the startup to the move is slow, and as the invincibility frames only covers the beginning portion of the startup animation, it is possible to hit Dan before the projectile comes out, limiting its already low overall usefulness. However, the post-attack roll can help prevent counterattacks, and it noticeably covers more vertical space. Also, due to the fact that Dan leans far back before launching the attack just after startup, it is possible for him to catch and punish most jump-ins with this Ultra Combo, crossup or not.
Skill: Dan is a martial artist, but an incredibly incompetent one at that.
Trivia (Optional):
-THE SAIKYO ARTS ARE THE BEST!!!
Sample of how you'll play this character:
Dan was rolling around the street until he came to a stop and gave us a thumbs up while smiling.
"HAHA!!! The Saikyo arts are the best martial arts ever!!!" said Dan.
"HIBIKI-SAN!!!" yelled a voice nearby.
"Yes, Sakura???!!!" said Dan with a smile.
"I'm ready for my next lesson!!!" said Sakura excitedly.
"Awesome!!! Now you'll get to see a master in action!!! This is how you make a fireball..." said Dan as he prepared to do a fireball. "SHINKUUUU... GADOKEN!!!!"
*plip* The small fireball that Dan tossed out of his hand dissolved in the air.
"Oh, like this???" said Sakura as she prepared to shoot a fireball from her hands. "SHINKUUUUU... HADOKEN!!!"
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!" yelled Dan comically as he flew away thanks to Sakura's fireball.
Dan crashed into a wall.
"Oops!!! Sorry Hibiki-san..." said Sakura, but Dan just has birds chirping around her head while his face has a comical defeated look.
